Join us to see and learn about our fireflies at the John Clyde Native Grasslands Preserve. Adults and kids can hike 0.5 miles along the grassy trail to the observation point to see the 8:30 PM sunset over the Sourland Mountains, returning at dusk as the fireflies emerge from the grasslands. Participants can also observe the emerging fireflies from the parking area. Children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the event. Insect repellant is encouraged (around ankles and pantlegs in case of ticks, other insect types are not usually found at the event). Co-sponsored with the Franklin Township Trails Advisory Committee. Meet at the parking lot inside the Grasslands (1092 Canal Road – the entrance is 100 yards south of the intersection of Canal Road and Griggstown Causeway).
